We offer comprehensive training programs for our volunteers, covering general hospice care, bereavement support, and advanced care planning. Our training ensures that volunteers are well-prepared to provide compassionate and effective support. Initial training typically involves 30 hours of general instruction, including listening skills and other essential modules.
Volunteer Roles:
Volunteers can start by shadowing experienced members to see if they are interested, followed by formalized and specialized training if they choose to continue. It is possible to volunteer without being directly involved in offering services to those who are dying. Volunteers can assist with administrative tasks, events, and other supportive roles. Our training is benchmarked to the BC Hospice & Palliative Care Association’s standards.
Volunteer Requirements:
We seek kind, caring, and sympathetic individuals with no criminal history. Our training and mentoring programs ensure that volunteers are well-equipped to provide the best care.
Mentoring:
Experienced volunteers mentor new volunteers, providing guidance and support throughout the training process.
